Quickies

1. I paid a man to smear acid on my foot today.

2. The AC is out on West Campus, which means it's a hot, stuffy, sweaty day here. Steve weighs in:

me: oh joy. No AC in my office today! :)
steve: The new job isn't exactly the Promised Land?
me: the new job kicks ass, it's the rest of campus that makes it our problems sometimes :)
steve: Open your windows and yell "Fuckers!" at anyone who walks by ;-)
me: alas, my window doesn't open :(
steve: Anti-suicide bastards!
me: I'm only 20 feet off the ground
me: jumping would be more painful than fatal
steve: it might take a few tries, but you could probably eventually do it.

3. Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] bluepenguin007!

you could always test it a few times with someone else ... send them out the window at various angles to see if there's an optimum neck breaking on first try fall

[identity profile] tzeca.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Flinging them through a window that doesn't open might do the trick on it's own. Got any spare interns you can use for testing?

wait... does that mean the sac has no AC? Today's my first day back in a... while and that would make it doubleplus suck.

"Due to a broken chilled water supply outside MARC, the chilled water to the following buildings has been shut off. ISYE Annex, ISYE Groseclose MARC,MRDC I, MRDC II, Student Health. There will not be A/C in these buildings until the break can be isolated/repaired."

CRC has it apparently. I'd be going if not for the whole acid-on-foot episode earlier in the day.

ahh. thanks for letting me know.
and good luck with the foot.

[identity profile] codymc.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
why the acid foot bath?

[identity profile] uglor.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Wart removal at the podiatrist.

[identity profile] codymc.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
did he helt you keep it in a jar?

[identity profile] uglor.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's still there. The acid is supposed to convince it to leave.

[identity profile] codymc.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
seems like a knife might have done that and not been any more painful

[identity profile] uglor.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The acid is the pain-free method. The knife would have involved multiple shots and carving two big chunks of toe out, including one right where big toenail meets skin.

[identity profile] codymc.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
see those oyu could have kept in a jar

you should get a macro lens and take pictures of the acid eating the wart :-D

[identity profile] notgruntled.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
And then never show them to anyone, ever.

[identity profile] plantyhamchuk.livejournal.com 2007-03-28 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
OMG NO WAIT don't throw that stuff away! We're talking valuable material here.

[identity profile] plantyhamchuk.livejournal.com 2007-03-28 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
You make this sound like a bad thing!!

I've heard duct tape works well.

[identity profile] g-sabine.livejournal.com 2007-03-28 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
I'm trying fingernail polish at the moment. If that doesn't work, I know that I'm allergic to some bandage adhesives, so I'll figure out what my brand is and cut them up into pieces. That would be combination therapy...strangling the wart *and* activating the immune system. And if that fails too, I'll help uglor test out his window...

[identity profile] allidc.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
don't kill yourself! they'll fix the air soon enough, i'm sure!

[identity profile] uglor.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You're from the south. You should know heat doesn't make us kill ourselves!

It makes us kill other people...

[identity profile] allidc.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, that's fine then. kill all the other people you want. :)

[identity profile] notgruntled.livejournal.com 2007-03-27 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
1. I paid a man to smear acid on my foot today.

I used to know a woman who would ... oh. Wait. You mean pH<7. not, um, the other thing.

I guess that explains why the rest of the post is fairly coherent and doesn't contain anything about Pink Floyd.
