Sometimes I think I know exactly what I want. I can't have it.

Sometimes I see others with what I want and I feel a terrible mix of anger, sadness, jealousy and regret.

Sometimes I wonder if I could have done something differently, or could do something new to get what I want.

Sometimes I hope that I'll find something new to want. Something I can have.

Sometimes I look at what I have and think that wanting more is foolish.

Someday I may have what I want, but until then I try to be happy with what I have.

Some days I could have everything else in the world and it still would not be enough.

Some day I may want something else, but today I still want what I can not have.

It seems you've articulated my own feelings more clearly than I could have myself.

Ditto. Though I am not sure I agree that wanting more is foolish. I think wanting more is what drives people to make themselves and their situations better. Without that, you just kind of....sit.

I agree 100%

I'm a consumer! I want more!

I took some strange american history class (well maybe just the prof. was strange) but he brought up some theory that basically said once we gave up independent living (i rely on my job to give me money to buy food rather than growing it) and since we are no longer defined by what we do (i.e. blacksmith) that we are now defined by what we consume.

see it's all societies fault

(and they said all those sociology course were for nothing!)
