The best political conspiracy theory I've heard this month:

John McCain isn't losing the election, he's throwing it. After the way they treated him in 2000, he's getting his revenge by destroying the party. What we are seeing isn't an old man who fumbled his change over 8 years. This is a angry, vengeful bastard who's grown sick of the scumbags who have infested his party. He's decided to burn the house down while they are all still in it. This is an 8 year long lead up to revenge.

I agree the Republican party needs to be reborn. But to be reborn, it needs to be killed. I hope he's the man to do it.

I read it on the internet, so it could have come from the New York Times, or some crazy guy in his underwear in Mom's basement.

Well, he does have more experience crashing and burning than the other three candidates combined.

Honestly, I'd respect him a lot more if this was the case. Which would you prefer:

A. The man betrayed every principle he had to win the nomination

B. When the mudslinging started in 2000 in South Carolina and went after his adopted daughter, he decided the Republican party was too evil to continue on, and decided to take it down.

I always though McCain could have won the election in 2000 if he had simply tracked down the GOP person who organized the "fathered a black baby" smears, dragged him into the street and beat him bloody with a tire iron. All he would have had to say when people asked why is "She's my daughter. What kind of father would I be if I didn't do that?" He would have won by a fucking landslide.

McCain doesn't creep me out nearly as much as Bob Barr does.

That said, I'm ignoring the fact that I am going to check "McCain" on the ballot. I am voting on the principle, not the person.
