I agree with many of the points, but also found all the shots delightful. I prefer shooting darking stuff but will look at Vogue and A&F work often just to see whats being done in the straight world.
I have to agree with just about everything they said. I think part of it is having historical perspective. Of course a Penn is going to sell for mint, the guy isn't exactly doing shoots anymore, heh. Whereas the more modern stuff is more easily reproducible. It's the same with any art form, rarely does your stuff get the really big bucks while you're alive (unless you're basquiat)
I actually read W for the fashion photography. Some of it is horrid, yes, but much of it is really VERY good. Last month, there was a photo essay on face makeup on Asian women that was just incredible. The lighting. The setting. The mood. Gorgeous.
This month, I was flipping through and saw some incredible fashion shots in slicks in the first half (I haven't made it all the way through yet).
