Gmail doesn't understand periods in email addresses apparently.

So if you have a gmail account like foo.bar@gmail.com, you should make sure you also have foobar@gmail.com so someone else isn't getting your mail.

That is especially awesome, since they recommend firstname.lastname@gmail.com when you go to sign up.

Yeah, I actually have a firstname.lastname address, and I put it on the fucking resumes I've been handing out. Whatever, I didn't need a stinking job anyway, right? Grumble.

Though they still have my undying loyalty for telling the DOJ what it could suck when they came knocking.

They get away with huge, GAPING security flaws like that by saying "But it's a beta" and just telling you to deal. For some unknown reason, this placates the Google fanboyz.

It ceases to be a beta when people rely heavily on it.

On the plus side it appears that will not allow me to create mykeyunis since myke.yunis exists. I assume that if this was ever an issue, at one time they allowed mykeyunis to be created if myke.yunis existed and they have since fixed that.
