Dec. 17th, 2003 10:45 amA new wave of smuggling is happening. Immigrants, mainly from Africa, are smuggling in "bush meat", like monkey for a taste of home. Problem is, monkeys in Africa tend to carry some nasty stuff like AIDS and Ebola. Here's a link to the article in the AJC.
There are several amazing bits of language in there. It's possible that I'm slap happy from only getting 4 hours of sleep after return of the king, but i just had to share:
"They were shocked by what they saw --- an entire smoked monkey."
"In August, two large monkey heads seized from a passenger arriving in Atlanta from Senegal apparently were intended for consumption by a family of immigrants, authorities said."
"Many airport inspectors are still inexperienced in recognizing the illegal meat."
