ghiniMy Photography prof has an opening at eyedrum this Saturday:
"For her new installation/performance work Baby Invasion, Atlanta artist Anya Liftig will convert Eyedrum's small gallery into a fully (if oddly) furnished bedroom, and then fill that peaceful domestic setting with a swarm of personally commissioned, bite-sized plastic babies--over 36,000 of them (count 'em). Like a biblical plague or the latest designer biohazard, the multitude of babies will encrust, infuse, infest and obscure the objects in the room and, during the opening night performance, the body of the artist herself. This self-described "nightmare scenario" will transform Eyedrum's simple (if oddly proportioned) subgallery cube into an utterly unfamiliar environment, uneasily balanced between humor and dread. Eyedrum is proud to host the latest of Anya Liftig's ongoing series of ambitious and intense performance/installation works."
Anyone want to go with me? She's cool. I haven't seen any of her work yet, but she seems interesting enough to go see her stuff.

well, here's a random guess:
Date: 2003-10-03 09:47 am (UTC)Chi Hong will make you lots of little things like the above for the right price. They have some fairly steep minimum order guidelines, however. It's questionable whether 36000 babies would be enough.
