ghiniMy second cousins are in town for 2 weeks to stay with my aunt and uncle. Last night my brother and I went to dinner with them all.
A bit of background: My dad was an "accident" baby, coming 12 years after my uncle. Nonni thought she was done having kids, so at first she figured he was just a tumor. Lucky for me he wasn't. As a result, my dad would be about 58 this year, and my uncle just hit 70. My cousin Anna is around 40, and her kids, my second cousins are 12 and 8.
Ashley is 12, her brother Brian is 8. In 15 minutes with them, I managed to flash back to most of my childhood. Ashley is just like me. The sarcastic sense of humor, the annoying little brother, the aggravation of being just young enough to still be a kid.
So imagine me as a 12 year old Catholic schoolgirl with an 8 year old little brother Luke in tow.
