It occurs to me that in the desert heat at Burning Man, my standard footwear choices of black shoes or black boots may not be the most proactical. I'm thinking I need a pair of sandals. I know there are Tevas, Birkenstocks, and all other kinds. I prefer the kind with some form of rear attachy thingy, as opposed to the kind that just has a strap over the top. Any suggestions?

If you do wear sandals, at least bring some vinegar to make yourself a footbath before you put on other shoes. Or stop by one of the camps that'll do that for you...it's a weird treat to get pampered in the middle of the desert by strangers.

I wore my Tevas twice out there as I was suffering from horrible blisters (another good lesson-break in your boots well beforehand!). I felt fine while I was there, but then my feet peeled for a month once I got back. Yeech.
