When we last left our hero, he was passing out in his tent, drunk in the wee hours of the morning...

I got woken up, briefly, by the serious rainstorm. The wind was rocking my tent hard enough that the wall was rocking my air mattress. I dozed back off, only to be woken up by my tent flap being unzipped by Cynthia. "My tent flooded... I'm moving in with you," she said, managing to look drunk, drowned and just woken up all at once. We ferried her stuff into my tent, then both tried to go back to sleep.

Ten minutes later, Cynthia decides she can't sleep and that we should watch the sunrise. Another minute after that, we discover it is totally overcast, and that there is no sunrise to be seen. Since no one else is up, we have to do something, so we decide to go to town and buy stuff to make brunch.

This is the point were part of the weekened got really, really, bad. I put my Doc Martins on. I neglected to tape my heels. By the time we were done walking through the grocery store, they had chewed the backs of my heels to hamburger. They hurt like a sonofabitch for the rest of the weekend.

Back in camp, with brunch makings, we hit the next problem: no one else is up yet. Cynthia is already having her morning beer, so I suggest she just keep getting drunk until she is loud enough to wake everyone else up. She points out that any activity that lets her drink and swear must be good.

I whip up brunch (French toast and sausage) and the day begins semi-normally...

More to come.

As I said to Jeremy Monday morning, it probably says something bad about us that we spent 3 days drowning in mud and not sleeping and it was AWESOME. Seriously. It was. Tho that was after I got tired of wandering around, went back to camp and said in a sad little voice, "Guys, can we get up and pack now? I don't think I can stay here any more."

If I could go back and only change two things it would be that I packed all my clothes in plastic bags or boxes so I had something dry to wear before I left the tent in the morning (which would have lasted less then 10 seconds outside the tent) and that I stayed until Monday.

If I only got one of those things, I'd have stayed until Monday.

We really had an incredible time, and as odd as it sounds I think the weather contributed. It drove off everyone but the most hardcore portion of the crowd and those are always the folks to hang out with.
