So I'm in Canada.
I was planning to go to Canada for the Carter Work Project for Habitat. A week building houses with Jimmy Carter sounded fun. Then I realized that the Alberta burn, Freezerburn, was two weeks before. I already worked from home a lot, so working from a home in Canada didn't seem too much different. I cleared it with my boss and took off.
Freezerburn will get it's own post. For now, let's just say that trading a Georgia burn, where EVERYONE knows me, for a foreign burn, where exactly one person knew me (who I had not seen in person in 7 years) was interesting. I managed to socialize a bit, but I realized how hard it can be to start from square one.
I returned to Edmonton and checked into an AirBnB. It was nice, and walking distance from some cool restaurants, bars, etc. After a long weekend of meeting new people and socializing, my extrovert batteries were drained. While I wandered out for food and exploring a few times, I didn't really talk to anyone.
Sunday I switched from a place on the south side, to one on the north side. I'm here for a week, then in a hotel for a week, then back to Atlanta.
Currently I am balanced between loving the solitude, and missing my friends and my cats.
