I used to live next to a QuikTrip. It became a standard place to stop off on my drive home after a long night out. Cheap munchies and good coffee. A while ago they started expanding their food options to include more things. Doughnuts, sandwiches and what I can only describe as... tubefood.
For years they have had hot dogs on those rollers that go back and forth. Then they wanted to add more foods, but more stuff that can be rolled on a roller. For a while they had eggrolls, but those didn't last. A couple years ago they added taquitos. I tried them and found them to be ok. The chicken ones were very dry. The pepperjack ones were tasty in a kind of "I am starving at 5am" way. Handy when you can drive by, but not something I'd go out of my way for.
I stopped off on my way up to Alchemy. They have added new tubefood. First off was a cheeseburger tube. It seemed like it was designed to be eaten in a hot dog bun. I did not have the courage to try this. Perhaps when I'm drunk.
The other thing they had was a buffalo chicken with cheese tubefood. It's a bright orange cylinder of breaded chicken. These I tried and found them quite good. Well, good for food in a tube.
While QuikTrip is not my main place to go for fast food, I will continue to go there every once in a while just to see what new kinds of tubefood they have invented.
