Big post stuff and things

Whew. Been an intense few weeks. I am officially on furlough this week. Next week is vacation. Let the relaxation begin!

My fireplace was inspected and got the ok on Friday. I need to fix up the top of the chimney a bit, but I can hopefully have a fire in my fireplace on Christmas.

I've had a few good shoots recently and hope to post some of them soon. I want to try to get into the Clermont Hotel to shoot once more before it closes.

I went to Holeman and Finch for dinner tonight. It was a special 4 course paired with 4 beers. All was awesome.

Plans for this week include slacking, house repair, interesting lunches and seeing Avatar.

This old house

With the help of my friend Allen, the last 24 hours has seen a lot of house work:

Insulation laid down in a good part of the attic. Result: less heat loss

Top level of bricks on the chimney removed. Concrete placed there. Installed damper on flue. Spent 30 minutes on roof in the cold after dark with a Dremel and a tungsten carbide bit shaving off a corner so said flue will close. Result: this time tomorrow, I can light a fire in my fireplace!

Old rusty medicine cabinet removed and new one installed. Have you ever seen a medicine cabinet with a slot for disposing of old safety razor blades? Well, mine was used. A lot. There was a three inch pile of blades behind the old cabinet.

Vent that led to the roof from the bathroom removed and replaced with a light and fan combo. Result: less freezing my ass off in the shower.

There's still some unsightly holes in the wall and ceiling by the medicine chest and fan to patch, but things are much better!
