Fat and happy
Oct. 14th, 2009 12:02 amTonight I went out for dinner with friends to Holeman & Finch for a birthday dinner. They were recently voted best burger in Atlanta, and I had to try it.
I ate:
Beef bone marrow - delicious. Stella was right when she described it as "like meat butter"
The charcuterie plate - pepperoni, duck ham, smoked lardo and two others I cant remember. All delicious
Fried pickles with spicy mayo - pickled onions, green tomatoes and cucumbers with a delicious homemade mayo made with three different hot sauces. Delicious, and I'm the guy who doesn't like pickles
Lambs brains sauteed in brown butter - richer than Bill Gates and way better tasting. I understand what the zombies are after.
The burger - two patties with cheese, onions, mustard and a side of some of the most perfect french fries I've had. I can't say if it is the best in Atlanta (I've never had the ghetto burger) but it is definitely top 5.
Fried apple pie for dessert.
I had one cocktail which was rye whiskey, becherovka liquer, citrus punch and soda. Quite tasty. I tasted four other of my dining companions and enjoyed all of them. I also tried the Abita belgian ale. Like everything Abita does (with the exception of purple haze) it was awesome.
All in all it was an amazingly delicious birthday dinner. Thanks to all involved.
