lots of $$$
Jan. 23rd, 2009 12:03 amGot my bill for my knee surgery: $5468. Thank god for insurance.
It's itemized, which shows a few interesting things.
$24 for an injection of Pepcid, an acid reducer. Bought at the store, the same does in pill form is about 25 cents.
$134 for 2 liters of Lactated Ringers. That's basically medical Gatorade in an IV bag.
The anesthesiologist was billed at $682 an hour. I am in the wrong line of work.
They gave me Versed, which is a sedative. They said it can induce retrograde amnesia, and most patients don't remember getting the shot or going to the OR. I do remember the shot, being wheeled into the OR, and the anesthesiologist putting the mask on me and telling me to breathe in.
$2053 for 2 hours in the recovery room.
