Tunes please?
Oct. 11th, 2008 12:43 pmI need new music. I was reading an online comic and realized I have become that guy who only listens to stuff from 5 years ago. Now that I have an iPod in the car, I never listen to the radio to hear new stuff.
So, here's my challenge:
Point me to some good new (to me) music. Bonus points if it's stuff I normally wouldn't like, but do in your case. Here's a few guidelines:
1. I tend to like loud, fast stuff. Punk, ska, industrial, metal, rock: KMFDM, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, White and/or Rob Zombie, Dropkick Murphys, Garbage, Nine Inch Nails, Rancid, The Ramones, etc.
2. I have been known to like Johnny Cash, Outkast, and Ice-T, despite generally disliking the generes they come from (country, R&B, rap)
3. I generally dislike Radiohead and any other band where the lead singer seems to have all the enthusiasm of a yawn. Tom Yorke may be a musical genius, but his whiny singing style just annoys the crap out of me.
4. Covers are good. Ska covers are better. Covers of the song Ballroom Blitz are the best thing ever.
5. Some good new music I've found in the last few years: The Fratellis, Emilie Simon (thanks
lorigami), Sugarland
