Italy sucks!
Jun. 22nd, 2006 02:48 amItaly sucks! Or at least the trains do.
We left the hotel at 5pm for the 20 minute walk to the train station. The train from Florence to Milan was supposed to leave at 6pm. Then it was 6:15pm. Then 6:45pm. Then the train was cancelled due to a strike.
We got on another line due to leave sometime between 8 and 9pm. Around 8:30 we got on the train, and around 9:30 we left. The original train was an express, and this one wasn't, so a 2 hour ride got longer due to several stops. Then there was the hour long delay due to the fire ahead of our train.
We made it to Milan around 2am, only six hours behind schedule. After that, the half hour wait for a cab seemed simple. It's now a few minutes before 3am. Bedtime. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Holly: snow globe acquired.
Jen: Mikado chocolate sticks acquired.
Tomorrow I attempt to buy all the food in the grocery store, and a case of wine. I'll try to get some Limoncello too.
