I'm back! 4 days in DC has left me with a scarred liver, blackened lungs and a back that feels like a pain-pretzel.

Saturday - I got picked up by [livejournal.com profile] lizerati and taken to the Marta station. While I was headed there, Orbitz was emailing me to tell me my plane was being delayed by several hours. Portable DVD players will keep you sane during long delays.

That night we met up with Sinno and Sarah and went to some gothy club with an unpronounceable name and a DJ on crack. Many pitchers of cheap beer were consumed. Cynthia wore her giant new boots and only fell down 5 times. Then we stayed up drinking and talking until 5am.

Sunday - we wandered the city for a while. Nice, however Cyn keeps claiming the streets are all on a grid, with north/south streets being numbered and east/west streets lettered. Addresses sound like a game of battleship. Apparently "grid" really means "north, south, east and west streets, along with the occasional random diagonal named after a state, N/S/E/W street that is not named after anything, and circles, which apparently warp the very fabric of space and time around them."

After deciding that DC is too hot in July to walk around, we went to a slumber party at the loft of a photographer friend. Wow. I had serious envy all night long. Many cool conversations were had with many cool people. After that, we went home and stayed up drinking and talking until 5am.

Monday - we went out to Virginia and had a 4th cookout with Cyns neighbors who were Very Cool People. Steve arrived and we sat in the back yard drinking and talking until 11, when the poor hosts had to go to bed. Such a good time was had, that we skipped fireworks totally. Then the three of us went home and stayed up drinking and talking until 5am.

Tuesday - We wandered the city again, and I remembered that DC is too hot in July to walk around. We wandered to a wonderful place called the Brickskellar, which holds the world record for the most varieties of beer. I think we may have tried them all. It was here that Steve and I mounted our text-messaging assault on our friends. Brooke recieved the first real drunk dial, but several others were spoken to. We sat there drinking and talking until 10pm. (About 8 hours total)

Wednesday - We drove home :(

I didn't take a single picture while on the trip (cameraphone excluded). I'm actually ok with that.
