(no subject)

I have cats. Roommate has orchids. The cats think the orchids are really cool toys and have been playing with them more than is good for the orchids. We need to buy some kind of shelf thingy so we can put the orchids higher up in the window out of kitty reach. The current plan is to just go by Home Depot and see what they have, but if anyone has faced this problem before, suggestions are welcome.

Cellphone problems?

I've been having an annoying problem with my Cingular phone for a while now. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. It seems to have started around the time of the AT&T merger.

I used to be an AT&T customer, then became Cingular when they merged. I have a Sony Ericsson T637 I got from AT&T.

Sometimes, when I recieve a call, there will be a lot of static on the line, but ONLY while we are talking. I answer the phone and it sounds quiet and normal, but as soon as I say "Hello", my voice sounds filled with static and the sound seems louder than normal. When the caller responds, more static. When neither of us says anything, it all seems fine.

Usually when I have this problem, I hang up and call the person back. Then we have a fine clear connection. The person on the other end of the line says I sounded fine before.

I just had my phone replaced with an identical model, and I'm still having the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this? Or, if you have called me, and had me say there was static then immediately call you back, did it sound strange on your end?

It's semi-official!

Today I accepted a job at Georgia Tech. I start July 11th. I'll be doing roughly the same job, for a bit more money. I'll have a shorter commute, work with friends, and hopefully enjoy it much more than I do now. I'll miss my coworkers though.

I'll be giving notice at GSU as soon as my official offer letter gets here, probably in a day or so.
