Dinner at 8pm at Little Szechuan and then the 9:50 Club Dread at Regal 24 sound good?

So last night my brother and I got to go to a press screening of Kevin Smith's new movie, Jersey Girl.

To give a quick review, it's good. Not great, but good. Smith is trying to do something other than Jay and Silent Bob. He wants to prove he can do more than dick and fart jokes. The movie didn't always feel like a Kevin Smith movie, but there were times it did. In some ways, it was like someone wrote a bad movie, then Kevin Smith was hired to rewrite it. There are still a lot of good laugh-out-loud lines, and all in all I'd pay to see it. They gave him an amazing cinematographer and the movie is beautiful to look at. J Lo dies in the first 15 minutes. the little girl is both cute and a great actress. George Carlin plays a great Grandfather.

The best part was after the movie, when Kevin Smith did about 90 minutes of Q&A. If you have ever seen the 'An Evening with Kevin smith' DVDs, it was just like that. Some highlights include:

Audience member: "Great movie! Do you still love the cock?"
Kevin Smith: "Thanks! Of course I love the cock!... Do you think Mel Gibson gets asked that at the Q&A for 'The Passion of the Christ'?"

He talked about how in early April, Jason Mewes will have been clean and sober for a full year. After Mewes got out of rehab, Kevin smith let him move in so he could help him stay sober. He promised Mewes that if he stays sober until he finishes his next two movies (The Green Hornet, followed by Fletch) then he will make another Jay & Silent Bob movie.

He thinks that his 4 year old daughter using the word 'bullshit' is the cutest thing ever.

He repeatedly mentioned his wife giving him the 'Why did I ever let you stick your dick in me'? look when he's particulary childish or geeky.
