There seem to be lots of stories about songs in popular music written about friends who overdosed. Temple of the Dog was an entire band formed briefly in response to the OD of the lead singer of Mother Love Bone.

If I ever have a similar opportunity, I'd write a song along the lines of "Jimmy You Stupid Dead Junkie Motherfucker"
