Jun. 9th, 2001 11:12 pmLeft the house in my sniffly state yesterday to see Swordfish. Ouch. Ouch on many levels. Any more plot holes and you could have used it as a tuna net. Someone said "They should tell the producers that hackers don't create worms in AutoCAD." In an ironic twist, the first scene is John Travolta talking about how big Hollywood Movies are shit.
Today I saw Moulin Rouge with some friends. For all it's faults, it was refreshing to see such balls-out filmmaking. The first hour is the most amazingly overcaffinated, colorful blast of imagery I have seen onscreen in ages. Unfortunately it rather quickly switches gears to a tragic love story. Think of it as bipolar filmmaking. From high to low with no transition.
