I have reached the bottom of job hunting. I cashed in part of my 401k today. I applied at bookstores, pizza places, and even Donnelly, the most blah job I ever worked. I will be forced to take a McJob to make next months rent. Then I watched my neighbor shop for $20K - $30K cars. Depressing.
I went to DragonCon this past weekend. You probably have already seen the pics. It is a truly unique world there. DragonCon is to geeks what Backstreet is to gays: A place to go and be yourself at its most outrageous. A place where you can go and not worry about what the person next to you thinks, because the person next to you is at least as weird as you are.
Of course there were a few people there weirder than the rest. The Klingons marching a chained Romulan through the lobby, for example. There but for the grace of social skills go I.
After conversing with my friends about themselves and my other friends, I am yet again convinced that I am the sanest person in the group. Either that or each of my neurotic tendencies have lined up in my mental blind spot. I keep thinking "I may not be perfect, but good god I'm more together than these people!" Their opinions probably differ... :)

.. anyhow, so there are two women in front of me with press passes. I don't know why they decided on the late night S&M show, but don't ask me. Anyhow, one of them said: "I just heard someone in the lobby say 'I love Dragon*Con because it makes me feel so normal'", and she then went on to the other woman for several minutes about how scary she felt that comment was. Which really pissed me off in addition to her putting down people for having a good time, but the press people got all the front row seats, and they left after about 10 min because they were pretty freaked out. I, however, enjoyed the show. :)
